World Wetlands Day February 2

World Wetlands Day, Ramsar day On February 2, 1971, an international treaty for the conservation and sustainable use of Ramsar sites (wetlands) was signed at Ramsar in Iran. It is also known as the Convention on Wetlands. The treaty provides a framework for all conservation and sustainable management actions affecting wetlands within the countries that signed the treaty. This day is celebrated as World Wetlands Day annually to commemorate the signing of the convention. World Wetlands Day 2024 theme “Wetlands and Human Wellbeing” focuses on the interconnectedness between wetlands and various aspects of human wellbeing, including physical, mental and environmental health. Wetlands offer vital freshwater, hosting over 100,000 species.
