உலக சிட்டுக்குருவிகள் தினம் - மார்ச் 20
"சிட்டுக்குருவிகளைப் பற்றிய விழிப்புணர்வை பொதுமக்களிடையே ஏற்படுத்தும் வகை"யில் ஆண்டுதோறும் மார்ச் 20 ஆம் தேதி உலக சிட்டுக்குருவி தினம் கடைப்பிடிக்கப்படுகிறது. 2010 ஆம் ஆண்டு முதல் மார்ச் 20-ம் தேதி உலக சிட்டுக்குருவிகள் நாள் கடைப்பிடிக்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது.
சிட்டுக்குருவிகள் இனம்
- சிட்டுக்குருவிகளின் மொத்த வாழ்நாள் 13 ஆண்டுகள். இந்த குருவிகள் வனப்பகுதிகளில் வாழ்வதைவிட, மனிதர்களுடன் நெருங்கி இருக் கவே விரும்புகின்றன.
சிட்டுக்குருவியும் தமிழரும்
- சிலப்பதிகாரத்தில் ‘குருவி ஒப்பியும் கிளி கடிந்து குன்றத்து’ என்றும் குன்றக் குரவையில் மலை மேல் திரிந்த குருவியையும் கிளியையும் இளங்கோவடிகள் பாடியுள்ளார். புறநானூற்றில் உள்ள குரீஇ என்ற சொல்லே மருவி குருவி என்றானது என்பர். தமிழர் தம் வாழ்வோடு சிட்டுக்குருவி ஆயிரம் ஆயிரம் ஆண்டுகளாக பயணிக்கிறது.
- தற்போது உலக அளவில் அழிந்துவரும் அரிய வகை பறவை இனங்களில் சிட்டுக்குருவியும் உள்ளது. லட்சக்கணக்கில் அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ள செல்போன் கோபுரங்களில் இருந்து வெளிப்படும் மின்காந்த அலைகள் சிட்டுக்குருவிகளிடம் மலட்டுத்தன்மையை உருவாக்கி அதன் இனம் அழிவதற்கு பெருங்காரணமாக விளங்குகிறது.
- விவசாயம் குறைவதால் பயிர்களும், நெற்மணிகளும் அரிதாகி வருவதும் மற்றும் பிரதான இரைகளான புழு, பூச்சிகள் இல்லாமல் போவதும் இன்னொருக் காரணம் ஆகும்.
World Sparrow Day - March 20th
- World Sparrow Day is a day designated to raise awareness of the house sparrow and then other common birds to urban environments, and of threats to their populations, observed on 20 March. It is an international initiative by the Nature Forever Society of India in collaboration with the Eco-Sys Action Foundation (France) and numerous other national and international organisations across the world.
About Sparrows
- Sparrows are a family of small passerine birds, Passeridae. They are also known as true sparrows, or Old World sparrows, names also used for a particular genus of the family, Passer. They are distinct from both the American sparrows, in the family Emberizidae, and from a few other birds sharing their name, such as the Java sparrow of the family Estrildidae.
