இந்திய பெருங் கடலில் சுனாமி ஏற்பட்ட தினம் - 26.12.2004
- பன்னிரண்டு ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன், 26.12.2016 நாளில் இந்திய பெருங் கடலில் ஏற்பட்ட சுனாமியின் நினைவலைகள், நம்முன் என்றும் நீங்காத வடுவாக தொடர்கிறது.
- 'சுனாமி' என்ற ஜப்பானிய மொழிச் சொல்லுக்கு "துறைமுக அலை' எனப் பொருள். "ஆழிப் பேரலை' எனவும் அழைக்கப் படுகிறது. இந்தோனேசியாவின் சுமத்ரா தீவில் ரிக்டர் அளவில் 9.1 என்ற அளவுக்கு முதலில் பூகம்பம் ஏற்பட்டது. இதையடுத்து எழும்பிய ஆழிப் பேரலைகள், இந்தோனேசியா, இந்தியா, மியான்மர், சிங்கப்பூர், இலங்கை, தாய்லாந்து உட்பட 14 நாடுகளில் கடும் சேதத்தை ஏற்படுத்தி மக்களை சோகத்தில் ஆழ்த்தின.
- உயர்ந்து மேல் எழும்பிய கடல் அலைகள் மக்கள் நினைத்துப்பார்க்க முடியாத கொடூரத்துடன் பாய்ந்தன. சில நிமிடங்கள் நீடித்த கடல் கொந்தளிப்பு மிகப்பெரிய பேரழிவை இந்திய துணைக் கண்டத்தில் ஏற்படுத்தியது. இதில் 2 லட்சம் முதல் 3 லட்சம் பேர்வரை உயிரிழந்தனர் என தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டது. இது உலகின் மோசமான இயற்கை சீரழிவுகளில் 6வது இடம், என்ற சோகமான சாதனையை பெற்றது.
- இந்தியாவில் தமிழகம், ஆந்திரா, கேரளா, புதுச்சேரி ஆகிய மாநிலங்களை சுனாமி தாக்கியது. இந்தியாவில் 12 ஆயிரத்துக்கும் மேற்பட்டோர் பலியாகினர். தமிழகத்தில் மட்டும் 7 ஆயிரம் பேர் இறந்தனர்.
