  • 'World Standards Day'/"International standards day" is celebrated internationally each year on 14 October.
  • The day honours the efforts of the thousands of experts who develop voluntary standards within standards development organizations such as the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), International Organization for Standardization (ISO), International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). The aim of World Standards Day is to raise awareness among regulators, industry and consumers as to the importance of standardization to the global economy.

(1) World Standards Day is celebrated all over the world every year on 14 October.

(2) Globally, World Standards day for the first time was celebrated on 1970.

(3) The theme for World Standards Day 2016 is 'Standards Build Trust'.

(6) Consumer affairs minister Ram Vilas Paswan has said that in order to make the make In India Campaign Successful it is important to improve the quality of the products.
